FINAL APPROVAL FOR ECO INNOVATION REPORT
Well after 4 long years we have finally completed the Ofgem report with our sponsors Eon. The report in a nut shell shows that blocking off your chimney with a Chimney umbrella can be one of the most energy efficient pound per punch changes you can make to your house and reduce your energy bills.
With savings as high as £3600 per house hold over its life time the chimella is surely at the for front of the government minds to instantly start helping people with their totally unaffordable sky rocketing energy bills.
Well its not!
Yet more red tape has appeared and now at the hight of the Energy crisis we are being told that we now need to enter into another process to get sap points for chimella. This is going to be another lengthy and costly exercise and another huge delay in getting chimney umbrellas out to the masses.
With insulating your house being the number one priority you have to question why we are not being told that the great big holes in the roof are the single biggest losses of heat in the home. They act like permanently open windows and are constantly sucking all the heat from your homes and can completely suck out all whole houses volume of air up to 12 times a day.
The fact that even with outstanding evidence before and after our report no body is even mentioning the significance of blocking of the biggest heat loss in the home, leads me to think that the whole directive for energy efficiency is about commerce and not about helping you save energy.
In less than a second you will instantly start saving money with a chimney umbrella where as fitting a air/ground source heat pump, new boilers, new windows etc. will cost tens of thousands of pounds, major installation disruption and take decades to get your money back. (if ever).
I have long known that I was taking on a whale when I started on the Chimella journey but my sense of injustice that no one was telling the general public about the biggest heat loss in the homes is as strong now as ever. Even more so after being part of a process which is definitely not designed to actually promote the problem and more keep you quiet in the system.
My Dad always taught me to “never give up!” and “when times are tough you need to dig deep!” We are digging deep here at chimella and our passion to help everybody save on un necessary heat usage and stop being devastated by their sky rocketing energy bills is stronger now than ever.
